Biaozhong Temple Tablet

In the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), Chen Bingguang, the administrative inspector of Meishan, Zhang Yujie, the county mayor of Meishan, Xia Meishou, the curator of the Ethnic Education Museum, and Chen Bingzhe, the poet, reproduced the carved stone according to the topography in Hangzhou from the Ming Dynasty in the Su Memorial Ancestral Hall, which is the only remaining complete engraving of the "Biaozhong Temple Tablet" in China. Biaozhong Temple Tablet was written by Su Shi when he was the governor of Xuzhou in 1078, the first year of Emperor Shenzong's reign. Su Shi revered the achievements made by the Emperor Qian of Wuyue State in governing Hangzhou. Under this background, Su Shi wrote a tablet inscription and wrote a book. The inscription is divided into two parts. The first part records the memorial of Zhao Bian's request to repair Qian's Tomb Temple on the basis of the abandoned Buddha shrine in Longshan Mountain. The second part is the inscription written by Su Shi. Its content is concise and the inscriptions are extraordinary, which is highly praised by later generations.
