Baoyue Pavilion

Baoyue Pavilion is located at the northeast corner of Ruilian East Pond, looking across the ridge and ditch and facing Yunyu Tower. The name “Baoyue” means “embrace the moon”. It is taken from a line in Su Shi's First Visit to the Red Cliff, which reads "I long to clasp winged fairies and roam freely, or to embrace the bright moon for all eternity". Baoyue Pavilion was built by Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Sichuan in the first year during the reign of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1875), and was overhauled in the Republic of China. The building is a wooden structure with a double-layered tile roof surrounded by armchairs. The plan is hexagonal, each side is 2.2 meters long and 6.67 meters high, with a floor area of 16.7 square meters. The pavilion is equipped with armchairs, with a bridge connecting to the pond bank, and along the east wall, visitors can go to the Oasis Pavilion.
