Art of Language Hidden in the Porch — Appreciation of the Plaque and Couplets of Meishan San Su Shrine Museum

Art of Language Hidden in the Porch — Appreciation of the Plaque and Couplets of Meishan San Su Shrine Museum is a comprehensive, popular and historical book that is indispensable for understanding the plaques and couples of Meishan San Su Shrine Museum The book is a systematic collection of 34 plaques and 64 couplets from ancient buildings, gardens, and tablets in Meishan San Su Shrine Museum. The book is written in a style that uses buildings as the carrier, in which the plaques and couplets are interpreted one by one. The interpretation of plaques (couplets) is further divided into three parts: firstly, appreciation of the plaques (couplets), notes on keywords and phrases in the plaques (couplets), and comments on the rhyme and sound, counterpoint and meaning of the plaques (couplets); secondly, it introduces the background to the writing of the plaques (couplets), the era when the plaques (couplets) were written, writers and calligraphers; and thirdly, an extended reading, with historical allusions or short stories related to the plaques (couplets). It is printed in color and illustrated with a combination of realistic and detailed pictures, allowing readers to see the organic combination of the overall realistic view and the local detail view. People can not only see the position and overall effect of the plaque (couplet), but also appreciate the beauty of the calligraphy of the plaque (couplet). The detailed partial pictures are either original calligrapher's works, or the topography of the plaque (couplet), or detailed pictures of the (plaque) couplet. The language style is refreshing, clear, and easy to understand. The book also has a strong historical value. With the passage of time, some of the plaque couples are no longer known by their authors or calligraphers or have been handed down incorrectly. This book examines the more dated plaque couplets in Meishan San Su Shrine Museum.
